As of midnight, 31st January 2023 you will need to find an alternative solution. After this date, the desktop version of QuickBooks will not be supported, nor will it even be accessible!
Businesses currently running the Desktop version of accounting software QuickBooks will need a new solution. Some may be able to move to the Online version. But whatever you do, it must be completed, ready for business on February 1st, 2023. QuickBooks have advised the decision is due to the Desktop platform increasing the risk of customers using out-of-date and non-compliant software and missing important updates. This is yet another reason why moving ‘into the cloud’ has never been so important – with HMRC pushing ahead with Making Tax Digital it’s key for an increasingly face-paced business environment. It’s essential that your business is using a suitably compliant and efficient accounting software.
My business uses Quickbooks Desktop – what do I do?
If you use the desktop version you will need to find an alternative solution prior to January 31st, 2023. QuickBooks Desktop will NOT be accessible nor supported beyond this date.
Is Zoho Books a good alternative to QuickBooks Desktop?
If you are impacted by the switch off then now is an ideal time to give some consideration to which accounting platform is best suited for you and your business. Don’t forget QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online have different features and some of those you use in the Desktop version are NOT in the Online version. A simple switch may not meet your requirements.
